After months of teasing, fans have finally got their first glimpse from the set of the still to be titled sequel to The Chronicles of Riddick. Vin Diesel posted the picture via his Facebook page after filming got underway following financial troubles.
We haven’t seen Riddick since 2004 and Diesel thanked fans for giving him the chance to reprise his role. “Grateful For the opportunity to make magic,” he said. If the picture of Diesel’s superhero style costume is anything to go by we are certainly in for a treat with this one.
Here is what we know so far from the official synopsis: “Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.”
With Universal giving no official release date, writer/director David Twohy (at the helm of his third Riddick flick) and crew are hard at work with it expected to hit the big screen next year.
