Warner Bros are planning to produce another instalment to the 2007 popular film I Am Legend. The company have struck deals with Akiva Goldsman and Overbrook Entertainment with the hope that Will Smith will reprise his role as scientist Robert Neville.
It is not known for definite if this will be a prequel as rumoured or a follow on, so it will be interesting to see how Smiths character will return after the ending of the first film. He was a survivor in New York seeking a cure to the man-made virus which wiped the population and left mutated zombies.
Smith is not keen to commit to the project until the script is ready, which is to be penned by Arash Amel. There is also no news on whether the director of the first film Francis Lawrence will return.
I am Legend took $584 million worldwide, so it is easy to see why Warner Bros want to continue the story of the original film, which was based on the novel by Richard Matheson.
You can see Will Smith back on the big screen this summer when Men In Black III is released.
