Synopsis: A man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. is offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates.
First time directors James Mather and Stephen St. Ledger combine with talented writer Luc Besson (Leon, Taken and The Transporter), Lockout looks like a throwback to the Sci-fi films of yesteryear. Think ‘Escape From New York’ but in space.
Starring Guy Pearce (who will also be seen later in the years biggest Sci-fi – Prometheus) and Maggie Grace, this could well be the dark-horse this month. With a relatively small budget the studios will be hoping to make a profit however little has been heard about this film so in order to get the crowds in more promotion may be needed.
One question I have is; what the hell is the Presidents daughter doing at a space prison?!
Lockout is released in the UK 20th April and across the pond in the US a week earlier on the 13th. Australia will have to wait until July to see this film.
